Eddie's Cars

 

Can you help identify either of these two Elevens?

-- Previous US owner purchased the car above in the early 80s from the Chicago area where the car had been stored in an ice plant. Prior to that the car had been stored in the rafters of a garage in Waukeegan, Illinois  from around 1975.
-- Believed raced by George Taylor up until the early 1960s.  Possibly sold to the Tennessee area.
-- Body built in 20 gauge, painted green (lighter than British Racing Green -paint now removed) and fitted with aluminium light covers.
-- Rear body has cut-out for full width roll bar.
-- Front section has enlarged wheel arches.
-- Door length longer than blue car, seen in background below:

-- The car seen in the background came from Mid-West USA - exact location unknown.
-- Original colour: white; followed by: baby blue, burgundy, dark blue.
--  ID on body: racing number 31 or 51 and the prefix G.
-- ID in body: pencil mark in driver's door skin reads BVG 2 or BYG 2 (possibly more numbers after 2, but not identifiable);
-- Car's running gear painted red, front hub carries the number 227 RH
-- Original Coventry Climax engine still exists in US in Series 2 car;
-- Front and rear body panels retained by leather straps.
-- Girling calipers stamped 1956.
-- Chassis checked, with one tube replaced, by Mike Brotherwood; remainder
confirmed original, blue body aligns with original rivet holes in chassis
